This show (as well as Marillion's opening set) is broadcast live on the German radio station "SWR 3." As a result, this would be one of Queen's most bootlegged shows.

Freddie's voice is starting to weaken a bit, but he still has plenty of great moments tonight. Overall it's a great performance, as usual on this tour.

Freddie embellishes a lyric in Under Pressure: "Sat on a fence, but it didn't fuckin' work!"

He starts a vocal exchange with the audience (perhaps even to his surprise) during Another One Bites The Dust. It is a marvellous moment of spontaneity that led to a set piece during this song for the remainder of the tour.

Brian tosses in the riff of The Beatles' I Feel Fine after the impromptu, after which the band try out Gimme Some Lovin' as they did in Leiden.

Towards the end of his solo spot, Brian plays bits of the melody from Golden Days, a song he wrote for Japanese pop sensation Minako Honda and would produce in 1987.

Brian, before he starts to play Love Of My Life: "Freddie wrote a magical song. It goes like this."

Fish (from Marillion, one of the acts who opened for Queen) joins the band for Tutti Frutti, as seen in pic 22. After the song, Freddie tells the audience, "We love ya. What a corny, shitty thing to say, I know. But we love you anyway."

Freddie cracks yet another Crazy joke: "This is called a guitar, and I can never play it. But I'll get away with murder; just watch!"

The show was broadcast on the radio in the US later in the year. It was named "Done Under Pressure" by the folks at Off The Record.

We Are The Champions was broadcast on TV not long after the show by ZDF. This is apparently all that exists, according to the presenter Peter Illmann as heard (in German) before the concert footage begins: "We would love, of course, to show you more footage of the show, but the air time is limited and I have to tell you also that it's also the band's management's fault, because they allowed us to film only 3 minutes, but I believe that even 3 fantastic minutes are better than nothing for this great band."

Some footage from before this show is seen on the Magic Years documentary, and a few seconds of concert footage have been seen in many documentaries - an aerial shot, and Freddie kicking a ball into the audience. It's currently unknown precisely how much footage exists from this show.

Another video of the Mannheim show may exist, filmed as a tester for the upcoming Budapest film. The director filmed this concert with a camcorder, just to give a basic idea of the show to the Hungarian film crew in July. The footage may still exist, but the director says it may have been taped over.

Part of this concert was officially released as part of the "On Air" box set in 2016, containing Queen's complete BBC sessions for the first time, as well as live material and interviews. The sound quality of the Mannheim material is about identical to the best bootlegs available. The tracks included are:

A Kind Of Magic, Under Pressure, Is This The World We Created?, (You're So Square) Baby I Don't Care, Hello Mary Lou, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, God Save The Queen

The last pre-show photo of Brian May with Fish was taken by Reinhard Harms. The first set of concert photos were taken by Christian Wißing.

The last one could be from any of the German gigs on this tour (Mannheim, Berlin, Munich, or Cologne).

This bootleg LP was released in Germany soon after the show, in August 1986.

It was re-released in Italy in 1987 with the same artwork, in very limited quantities. The LP itself had a different label, and the matrix number on the cover is "Q 501/2/3/4."

This bootleg LP also came out in 1986. It is from the same broadcast but recorded from the airwaves by another taper. The quality is spectacular - about as good as the Wembley official releases.

Another 200 copies were released with green vinyl.

This bootleg is a knock-off of "Queen Reigns The World," in a bit worse sound quality. The second LP is red vinyl.

The back cover claims there are only 100 copies, but there are actually well over 500.

This is a 1991 re-issue of the 1986 LP of the same name, with the same gorgeous Rodney Matthews artwork.

The sound quality is still excellent, but not quite as crisp as the LP.

This contains my all-time personal favourite bootleg folly - on the back cover they misspelled their own company's name as "Three Cole Cats" (I included scans of the discs to be certain).

In addition to the Imtrat label's semi-official releases called "Live USA" from 1992 containing material from the Seattle '77 and Fukuoka '82 shows, they released a CD of the same name containing Mannheim material the following year. These discs were entitled Live USA because the Imtrat label found a loophole in German copyright law stating that live recordings of foreign bands recorded in foreign countries were not protected.

In 2001, there were three 3-disc releases with this title. This was the first, in a double-gatefold sleeve.

Musically they are all identical. The three discs are a straight copy of the "Queen" box listed above, with the same Mannheim and Fukuoka material.
