Queen played a single night at the Yoyogi National Gymnasium, despite some sources claiming this is the second of two consecutive nights at the venue. The concert was filmed and later released, although only in Japan. It was also broadcast on Japanese radio numerous times. These releases and broadcasts have led to a plethora of bootlegs. "Final Live In Japan" was first released on VHS in 1992, and there have since been laserdisc and pirate DVD releases. Unfortunately the audio mix is downright awful in many spots, as the keyboards are mixed way too high, while the guitar is often barely audible. While Dragon Attack is missing from the video, it was broadcast on the radio. However, the radio broadcasts and videos alike never included Brian May's guitar solo or the Brighton Rock finale. Mercury does a bit of scat singing at the end of Brighton Rock, just like he would do in the middle of Another One Bites The Dust at Knebworth in 1986. A Japanese TV broadcast featured only half of the show (Machines, Tear It Up, Tie Your Mother Down, Under Pressure, Seven Seas Of Rhye, Keep Yourself Alive, Liar, It's A Hard Life, Is This The World We Created?, Another One Bites The Dust, Mustapha, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, We Will Rock You, We Are The Champions, God Save The Queen), some of which had alternate camera angles. As for the show itself, it is a great one. Freddie delivers top notch versions of Keep Yourself Alive and Liar, and the band's improvisation before It's A Hard Life is phenomenal, with everyone firing on all cylinders. It's A Hard Life is a beautiful version, and Dragon Attack is perhaps the definitive live delivery of the song from Freddie (and Brian really lets it rip here). Like in Rio earlier in the year, Freddie comes out for We Will Rock You with a British flag, then turns around to reveal the flag of Japan on the reverse. The first and third pics were taken by Dave Matkin, and the second one was taken by Heather Young. |

This 1990 vinyl bootleg was the first bootleg of this show. This recording from a radio broadcast has a far better audio mix than the official video release. Dragon Attack is heard here (unlike the video), but it is missing the intro to Liar (the same cut as on the official Live In Rio release). As on all recordings of this show for broadcast or release, many segments between songs have been chopped off for continuity. The last three scans are of later pressings released in 1991 and 1992 with the same front and back covers. The black vinyl is extremely rare. A bootleg with the same title and artwork was released on CD in the late 90s, but it contains an incomplete recording of the Montreal '81 shows (taken from the first official DVD release) instead of Tokyo. |

This 1992 LP was a re-release of "Absolutely Enthusiastic". It is one of many bootlegs passed off as the Osaka show from 4 nights later, to lure buyers into getting what seemed to be a different show from the one that was just released on VHS. The presence of Dragon Attack (as this is from a radio broadcast, not the video which omitted that song) certainly helped their cause. At least 5,000 copies were pressed, but they weren't available for long as they actually ended up in many European music stores. |

Live Storm copied the Golden Stars bootleg, just like they did with the Cologne '79 show. |

Here are various bootlegs of this show (mostly from the 90s), taken from either the official Japanese laserdisc or radio broadcasts. Many of the bootlegs are disguised as other dates, and many are missing songs. The 'Final Live In Japan' bootleg, using the DD/MM/YYYY format, may have lured buyers into believing it really was the last show in Japan, since a November date (inaccurate as it is) is later than May 15, the actual final concert in Japan. |

This pre-bootleg copy from radio includes some DJ chatter before and after the show. It is the best-sounding document of the show. |
