Freddie Mercury's voice can barely keep up at this point in the tour, leading one to wonder why a show or two wasn't cancelled to let him rest, as they'd done in earlier years. However, there are many collectively great moments, like their exquisite vocal harmonies in the breakdown of Somebody To Love.

If You Can't Beat Them returns to the set after being absent at the previous few shows.

While Freddie's voice is still pretty rough tonight, he has a brief moment of brilliance in the first chorus of Don't Stop Me Now where he frees himself from his inhibitions, powerfully nailing "Just gimme a call" like he does on the album. This is almost certainly the single best line he'd sing on this entire Japanese tour.

After a wonderful version of Love Of My Life, Brian introduces Freddie as "skulking in the background."

After '39, Freddie says, "That finishes the so-called acoustic set. We're gonna do something a bit heavier... with this dreadful voice. This is from an album called News Of The World, and the song is called It's Late." Indeed, this is a song Freddie would struggle with on most nights in Japan. Although he is nowhere near able to hit the higher notes, he embellishes some of the lower melody lines with higher notes to make up for it as best as he can.

Later he delivers a great version of Keep Yourself Alive.

A TV spot aired earlier in the day with the band arriving at the airport, with Brian speaking briefly with a reporter.

This audience tape presents a unique perspective of Brighton Rock, as only the echo of Brian's guitar solo is heard for a couple minutes.

Wardour bootlegged the audience tape in 2008. It doesn't sound quite as good as the RoIO above, as it has been digitally processed a great deal (its frequency analysis cuts off at only 6kHz, as opposed to mp3's usual 16kHz).

This alternate source emerged in May 2010. It is a much better recording of the show, although still a bit distant.

The taper used two different recording devices to create stereo sound. He believes they were both TCM-100Bs, but he stated the possibility that he may have used a TC-1100 for the right channel. Either way, they ran at different speeds and he managed to correct all but one track, It's Late, which is a somewhat jarring listen as the two channels are a quarter-tone apart in pitch (but not speed).

Wardour (who released the other audience source of this show only two years earlier) quickly bootlegged the second audience source three weeks after it emerged.

It's Late has been fixed, and crossfades are done from the few mono spots into stereo to make the edits sound smoother. It's been given a light EQ job as well.
