The first verse of In The Lap Of The Gods...Revisited is very loose and drawn out. Freddie tries to introduce Who Wants To Live Forever, but stops when audience members are singing a football song. "This is not a picnic!" He then asks his fellow bandmembers, "Are we gonna do it or not?" Skipping the ballad in front of a lively audience isn't always a bad choice, but they play it anyway. Like he did in Munich, he reverses the first two lines of the song. Nicci Gable, a backing singer for one of the opening acts, Belouis Some, joins the band for Tutti Frutti. After Hammer To Fall, someone with a blowhorn in the audience belts out a rhythm usually heard at sporting events. John Deacon responds to it by playing it back to them on his bass, but part way through it Freddie begins playing the intro to Crazy Little Thing Called Love. A fan recalls how the band had to finish by 10pm, and that the volume had to be kept to a reasonable minimum. This show was properly recorded by the band. The complete show was filmed from the audience. Like the Newcastle video, it's pretty distant. A few weeks later the Manchester Evening News reported in a piece entitled "Friends of the Fans" that Queen awarded a plaque to Manchester City football club and its fans to recognize the concert. It read: "In honour of one of the best concerts we have held, the reception we received and audience participation was unsurpassed." The first photo set was taken by Paul Nicholson, and the second by Zodiacal_light (the first two of which are of Status Quo, one of the opening bands). |

Audience members near the taper have seen Queen earlier on the tour, as they are calling out some of the song titles right before the band plays them. This is the only source with much of the cheering between encores left intact, and before Radio Ga Ga the audience sings Freddie's name to the tune of Amazing Grace. |
