Freddie's assistant Peter Freestone later revealed that Mercury sounded "OK, but conservative" at the first show, but after the show his throat tightened up and he was given steroids. He says for the second night Freddie took it "very easy." A fan recalls seeing Freddie rubbing his throat area and hacking on stage. Peter added that at the remaining gigs, Freddie sounded fine.
