The Dutch audience creates an unreal atmosphere tonight, elevating this show above most in that respect. They sing practically every word along with Freddie, and take almost complete control of Love Of My Life. They also sing their beloved football song before the encores. The band are also in fine shape, as always on this European tour. Tie Your Mother Down is back as the second number of the set. They flub the ending of Staying Power, but at least Freddie and Roger manage to end the song together. Hot Space hadn't come out yet, so most, if not all on hand, wouldn't have noticed. Before Liar, Freddie introduces it as being from their very first album, and asks, "Do you remember any of that stuff?" They definitely do. "Uh huh? Alright, let's see if you know it." Brian once again does the For Your Love reference in the breakdown, and Freddie sings his usual Back Chat improvs. Liar and Freddie's strong improvisational abilities (no doubt fueled by his love for r&b music) are a winning combination in 1982. After Under Pressure, the audience chant for Mustapha. Freddie enthusiastically responds, "Ok, we'll do that," and then sings the intro before introducing Fat Bottomed Girls. Freddie must have missed playing Somebody To Love at the last couple shows, as he performs the intro before Bohemian Rhapsody. It was his favourite Queen song, one which he always sang passionately. Bow Wow Wow (probably best known for their cover of "I Want Candy") are the support act for a few nights, and the Queen fans do not take kindly to them. The band members spent their set dancing around and ducking to avoid flying beer cans, and the drummer and guitarist were soon hit in the face. They left without finishing their set. Ten minutes later the guitarist, Matthew Ashman, returned to the stage with an assortment of beer cans and proceeded to throw them into the audience in retaliation. Tomorrow night the war would continue. The third set of pics were taken by Tim de Scally, who also submitted a review of the show (in Dutch) and the fifth set. The fourth set of pics (and the ones of Bow Wow Wow) were submitted by René Kurpershoek. His Queen pictures were taken during Flash, The Hero (just before Mercury took to the stage), Tie Your Mother Down and Play The Game respectively. The last set of pics was taken by Marco Genefaas. |

Even in this quality this is simply one of the greatest recordings of Queen live. During the intro of Now I'm Here, someone near the taper says (in Dutch): "Damn, what an atmosphere!" |

The tail end of a second audience source was tagged onto the end of a Leiden 1980 tape. It has an extra couple minutes of tape before Freddie leads the audience into We Will Rock You. |
