Queen now have a brand new opening to the show. A tape of Flash is heard and the venue is dark with only rotating spotlights. Then the lights focus on Brian, Roger, and John as they begin playing at the part of the song just before it breaks down at "Just a man with a man's courage," but instead the energy rises as they play the part with intensity. They then seamlessly jump into (a quicker and more energetic than before version of) The Hero as Freddie makes his arrival on stage. A great example of this very effective opening to the show can be seen on the officially-released Live At The Bowl DVD. While they have retired the fast We Will Rock You for now, it would show up later in the tour as the second song of the show on some nights.

This gig in particular is a very unique and experimental one. Freddie's voice is a little rough for the first few songs, but it soon settles down, allowing him to deliver a great show. He does seem a bit uneasy throughout, although he's bravely attempting some notes he doesn't usually go for. It's apparent that the band are a little nervous at times tonight, as they haven't quite settled into the new setlist yet.

Action This Day is heard every night through the end of the year, and Staying Power is performed on most nights of the European tour and a few more times in July and August in North America. The latter is arranged very differently to have a more straight-ahead rock feel compared to the Hot Space version. John Deacon funks it up on a Telecaster, and side-man Morgan Fisher takes care of the bass part on keyboards. Brian's guitar is especially prominent in the song, as he plays the synth and selected horn lines with precision on guitar every night.

After Get Down Make Love the audience lead the band into a short but unique improvised version of We Will Rock You, which segues right into Fat Bottomed Girls.

"It didn't start off so fucking well!" shouts Freddie after he attempts the first line of Save Me, since Brian doesn't start on the piano with him. "Come on you motherfucker, do it!" he adds. Freddie then counts in the song, and it sounds a bit different now with the fifth man on stage. Brian now switches to the guitar at the first chorus instead of the second, and during the second verse the keyboard is heard. Keyboards would augment songs like Crazy Little Thing Called Love and Under Pressure, but it can be said that Save Me now doesn't build up like it used to - although it is now a slightly heavier rendition of the song which works well with the sound Queen would have on this tour, particularly in North America later in the year. Also, Fisher now takes care of the middle eight on keyboard instead of Freddie doing it on piano.

A unique and laid back keyboard/guitar improvisation is played tonight (which sounds closer to Brian Eno than Queen) but this is obviously something they felt didn't work the set as they would never do it again. As a result this is a rare show where Brian doesn't perform his Brighton Rock-like solo spot.

Liar has been resurrected, during which Brian plays a great solo tonight as well as some funky licks in the breakdown. The song would be performed throughout April, with Freddie often improvising lyrics from Back Chat during the breakdown. Within a week the band would start playing Back Chat itself, but on nights that they didn't play the song Freddie would usually weave a few words of it into the set somewhere, demonstrating his love for the song.

Before Crazy Little Thing Called Love, Freddie starts playing the iconic Bo Diddley beat on the guitar and sings a few lines of "Not Fade Away" by The Crickets. He'd do this once again in 1984.

Under Pressure comes after Bohemian Rhapsody; a very odd place in the setlist, considering the band had always previously picked a high energy number to follow it for the last five years. But on this night, they probably thought it was a good idea because it was their most recent hit song at the time.

Now I'm Here is a very unique version tonight, as the reprise is extended with the band reprising the middle section as well, either by design or by accident (Freddie is heard shouting "do the change!" perhaps hoping to get them back on track). But considering the experimentation in the setlist early in this tour, anything is possible. On the following night Brian May's solo would be part of this piece. This is the one known instance of Mercury shouting the Chuck Berry inspired "go, go, go little Queenie" as heard on the album version.

This copy was acquired not long after the show, so it's likely a first generation cassette but it cannot be confirmed for certain.

There are two cuts for tape flips (a fair chunk of Love Of My Life is missing), and an additional cut during the keyboard/guitar improv for some reason.

This one has the infamous crackling sound added. This was released when Gypsy Eye were making their shift to becoming Breakdown Records (they wanted to be a CDR label, probably to save on production costs). Released in 2003, this was one of the first Breakdown releases. Thankfully they soon put an end to their ways of purposely destroying their recordings.

Disc 2 plays a bit too fast.

Source 2 has cuts in most of the same songs as above, but in different places. Bohemian Rhapsody is missing altogether, but the one-off take of Now I'm Here is captured in full.
