This is the first of three consecutive nights in Tokyo. Although Freddie gets off to a decent start, his voice is very strained by mid-show.

After his piano and vocal intro to Somebody To Love, he declares, "OK sweethearts, let's go!" In the second chorus, Trip Khalaf at the front of house briefly lowers Brian and Roger's faders to enjoy hearing the audience sing "Somebody" in unison. Two beats later Brian and Roger return to the mix. He pulls the same trick in the second chorus of Killer Queen, hoping for an "Anytime" from the audience but they come up empty.

Fat Bottomed Girls is dropped from the setlist after tonight.

The band are smoking hot by this point on the tour, particuarly Brian May who is throwing in extra licks all over the place, like in the modulation connecting Death On Two Legs to Killer Queen.

Freddie does his usual introduction to Now I'm Here and adds, "I just know you'll join in, so I'm not gonna press you." After his successful (and creative) vocal exchange with the audience part way through the songs, he quips, "Oh god, they're learning fast."

Freddie, after Now I'm Here: "We'd like, straight away, to introduce Brian May on the piano. We're gonna do something special tonight. We didn't do it the last kinda shows we did here. This is... by the way, we'd like everybody to sing, meaning.. [in Japanese he invites them to sing, which is becoming a regular thing]. So do it! This is called Teo Torriatte." After the song he jokes, "One of these days I'm gonna play guitar." Perhaps he wasn't entirely joking, as he'd be playing guitar on Queen's first US #1 hit within six months.

This is a pretty good, although distant recording.

This appears lossy in a spectral analysis, but it's probably a case of it having been transferred onto a DAT tape with a 32 KHz sampling rate (which is below CD quality, 44.1 KHz).

This alternate source isn't the best of quality. Its only value is that Love Of My Life isn't cut like on the common source.

This 2019 bootleg debuts a fourth audience source in decent quality. It was encoded to mp3 at some point.

The running time is so much shorter because the tape runs too fast and all the cheering between encores is absent.
