These pictures were taken by Nino Trovato, the cousin of Queen's lighting guy at the time. He helped build the "pizza oven" lighting rig on this tour, as well as the crown lighting rig from the News Of The World tour.
The first two pics were taken during We Will Rock You (fast), the next three are from Let Me Entertain You, and the following three are from Somebody To Love.
At one point during the show, Freddie said something to the effect of, "These lights suck," as the rig was having some issues. But it was something Freddie often griped about, so it was seen as no big deal by the crew. At another point, Freddie took his mic off the mic stand and dropped it in the audience for a few people in the front rows to shout into.
An audience recording of this show exists.
Queen's seventh album, the eclectic 'Jazz', is released on this day in the US (four days earlier in the UK). Therefore, until this show, Queen had performed three songs (Let Me Entertain You, If You Can't Beat Them, and Dreamers Ball) each night that their audiences didn't know (the Fat Bottomed Girls / Bicycle Race 7" single had been released in October). There is something to be said for any band with the audacity to test new material on an arena-sized audience before releasing it.
