Queen supported a band called Mahatma Kane Jeeves at two shows tonight, at 7:15 and 11pm. The photos were taken by Douglas Puddifoot, many of whose shots of the band later became iconic. Some of his photos from their Marquee gig on April 9 were used for the front and back covers of their self-titled debut album, and the first one seen here from this night was used for the insert in the final Queen album, Made In Heaven. Considering the circumstances around the latter, it was probably no coincidence that the remaining members of the band decided to bookend things by selecting a picture taken at the same venue (the date of these photos was deduced to this night because the album with the covers bearing the earlier Marquee shots was released by this point). |
